Summary

Dr. Javed Iqbal is a highly accomplished academician with over three decades of experience in teaching, research, and leadership. He holds a Ph.D. from Mississippi State University, USA, an M.S. in Agricultural Engineering from the University of Arkansas, USA, and both M.Sc. (Hons) and B.Sc. (Hons) in Soil Sciences from The University of Agriculture, Peshawar. His academic expertise spans soil sciences, GIS, and remote sensing applications. Currently serving as a Professor at the Institute of Geographical Information Systems, NUST, Islamabad, Dr. Javed Iqbal has also held leadership roles, including Head of Department, contributing to curriculum development, accreditation, and academic innovation. He played a pivotal role in establishing a BE Geoinformatics program and a Ph.D. program in Remote Sensing and GIS, while introducing new graduate and postgraduate courses. Dr. Javed Iqbal's research focuses on precision agriculture, remote sensing, spectroscopy, crop modeling, and climate change impacts on agriculture and glaciers. His work extends to natural hazard mapping for landslides, glacier avalanches, and flash floods. He has authored over 200 scholarly contributions, including 50 peer-reviewed articles in high-impact journals, with an h-index of 29 and an i10-index of 41. He has supervised over 100 MS students and 4 PhD scholars, fostering the next generation of researchers. Recognized for securing substantial funding from DAAD, NSF, Erasmus, and other agencies, Dr. Javed Iqbal has advanced cutting-edge research on multispectral and hyperspectral data applications for soil mapping and crop yield prediction. He is an active member of academic and administrative committees, including HEC accreditation panels and university senates, shaping the future of higher education and research. Dr. Javed Iqbal’s dedication to integrating technology with agricultural sciences has made significant contributions to sustainable development, precision agriculture, and disaster management, earning him a prominent position in academia and research.
