Launch of National Gender Data Portal (NGDP) by the President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan on 9th December 2021

The National Gender Data Portal (NGDP) developed by PI/Project Lead Prof. Dr. Sher Jamal Khan and Co-PI/IT Lead Dr. Ali Tahir from SCEE (NUST) funded by UN-Women was launched by the President of Pakistan, Dr Arif Alvi on 9th December 2021 at the Aiwan-e-Sadr. The NGDP is the first-of-its-kind systematic and centralized portal where national and provincial data pertinent to Gender Equality and Empowerment is compiled into a database and displayed in real-time addressing SDG 5 (Gender Equality). The portal comprises of the “Gender Statistics” and “Knowledge Hub” each of which encompasses of 10 and 21 themes, respectively. The NGDP can be used by policy makers in the identification of institutional gaps that perpetuate gender inequality and prevent women from participating actively in society.
