Fifth NUST Flagship International Conference on Water, Energy and Environment for Sustainability (IC-WEES)
The International Conference on Water, Energy and Environment for Sustainability (IC-WEES) organized by School of Civil & Environmental Engineering (SCEE), was held on 24th and 25th of September 2025 with a priority theme of “Advancing Sustainability: Synergizing Built Environment, Water & AI”. This is the 5th flagship conference of the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST), Pakistan. The conference provided a platform for scientists, researchers, engineers, industry players, managers, and policymakers to engage, share, and exchange recent scientific knowledge, AI developments, management approaches, and engineering solutions on future infrastructure, water, and the environment for sustainability.

More than 200 abstracts from various National and International participants were received over a period of almost 2 months. These abstract went through a rigorous review by our technical committee. In these two days 70 abstracts had been presented in the category of oral presentations and 25 for poster presentations. Participants joined the conference from all over Pakistan and also from other countries like Russia, UK, China, Thailand, UAE and Cameroon.
Around 165 registered members attended this conference along with 08 International and 13 National invited speakers. The program had been divided into 8 technical and 01 key note sessions under the 6 themes of IC-WEES 2025 which are as under:

- AI-Driven Sustainable Solutions
- GeoAI and Smart Cities
- Integrated Water Resources Management
- Water-Energy-Food-Ecosystem Nexus
Ms Romina Khurshid Alam, Coordinator to Prime Minister on Climate Change and Environmental Coordination was the chief guest at the opening ceremony. She addressed the audience and emphasized the importance of water, energy and environment for sustainability. She also gave away the shields to the invited speakers.
Pro-Rector Academics Dr. Osman Hassan was the chief guest at the closing ceremony. He gave the closing remarks and distributed prizes to the winner and runner up of the poster competition along with shields and certificates to the organizing committee.
IC-WEES 2025 was sponsored by HEC, PSF, Haji Latif Constructions HLC, Wah Industries Ltd. and JS Bank Ltd. More information, program and abstract book is available on https://icwees.nust.edu.pk/. The full length papers will be published with Springer publications and one(01) CPD credit point will be awarded to all participants of IC-WEES 2025 who are registered engineers with the Pakistan Engineering Council(PEC)
