School of Civil and Environmental Engineering (SCEE) Hosts Rector of University of Geological Sciences, Uzbekistan
A team led by Dr. Azam Alisherovich Kadirkhodjayev, Rector of the University of Geological Sciences, visited the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering (SCEE) on February 12, 2025. The delegation was warmly received by Prof. Dr. Muhammad Irfan, Principal and Dean of SCEE, reflecting the strong spirit of academic collaboration, mutual respect, and shared commitment to advancing higher education and research.
The visit began with a presentation highlighting SCEE’s academic excellence, research depth, and consultancy portfolio, with emphasis on geological sciences, geotechnical engineering, and geospatial sciences (GIS). The presentation showcased NUST’s outcome-based education, modern pedagogy, and integration of theory with practical and field-based learning, as well as SCEE’s contributions to addressing real-world engineering challenges through applied research, consultancy, and capacity-building initiatives.
Dr. Kadirkhodjayev expressed appreciation for the quality, structure, and international relevance of NUST’s programs, particularly in geological sciences and GIS. He commended the highly qualified faculty, noting their research profiles, international exposure, and contributions to professional practice. He emphasized interest in formal academic linkages, including faculty and student exchanges, joint research projects, co-supervision of postgraduate students, and collaborative training initiatives.
The delegation then toured the SCEE (NICE) laboratories, where the Principal and Dean SCEE briefed them on the state-of-the-art teaching, research, and commercial testing facilities. The team appreciated the modern infrastructure, advanced equipment, and industry-focused research environment, recognizing the laboratories as a key strength in bridging academia and industry.
Overall, the visit reaffirmed NUST’s strong academic standing, world-class facilities, and vibrant research environment, laying a solid foundation for future collaboration between SCEE, NUST, and the University of Geological Sciences, Uzbekistan.
