Visit of United Nations Educational Scientific & Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) Delegation to the NUST Integrated Constructed Wetland (ICW)/ SCEE

Prof. Dr. Muhammad Irfan, Principal & Dean SCEE welcomed the UNESCO – GIZ delegation followed by brief introduction of the delegation members and SCEE faculty. Dr. Junaid Ahmad, DLQEC SCEE (NICE) gave a presentation regarding NUST and the School of Civil & Environmental Engineering (SCEE) followed by NUST ICW presentation delivered by Prof. Dr. Hamza Farooq Gabriel. After the presentations, the delegation was taken to the NUST ICW Site where Prof. Dr. Hamza Farooq Gabriel conducted the visit to the site.

A 10-member delegation of UNESCO, led by Syed Muhammad Raza Shah (National Professional Officer (Science)) and GIZ led by Ms. Naing Yee Mar (Component Manger TVET SSP) visited the NUST Integrated Constructed Wetland (ICW).

The aim of the visit was: (i) to explore innovative wastewater management and reuse solutions implemented through ICW being a UNESCO’s pilot project; and (ii) to gain insights into sustainable water management practices and assess their potential integration into TVET qualification frameworks, capacity-building initiatives, and skills development programs. The GIZ delegation comprised representatives from GIZ’s Qualification Development Team, Capacity Development Team, and TVET Sector Programme (G230) (co-funded by the European Union).
